Import customer locations
Overview
You can create or update many customer locations at once by uploading a CSV file. Each row is one location. If a location with the same Location Name already exists for that customer, it is updated. If not, a new location is created.
The whole file is checked before anything is saved. If any row has an error, nothing is imported. Fix the rows listed on screen and upload the file again.
Before you start
- The customer must already exist. Locations are imported into one customer at a time.
- Each commodity you use must already exist in Pago. The name in your file must match it exactly.
- Save your file as CSV (comma delimited), encoded as UTF-8 or Unicode.
Preparing your file
Your file should start with a header row using the column names below. With a header row, columns can be in any order and you can leave out optional columns. If there is no header row, Pago reads the columns in the exact order shown.
Template: copy the header row below into a new file and save it as a .csv. It has all 23 columns in the order shown in the table. Add one row per location and delete any optional columns you don't need.

| 18 | CustomerBillTo | No | Bill-to accounting code. |
| 19 | TimeZone | Sometimes | IANA time zone, for example America/Los_Angeles. Required when the jurisdiction spans more than one time zone. |
| 20 | IsInactive | No | true/false, yes/no or y/n. Blank means active. |
| 21 | DatePlanted | No | A date, for example 03/15/2024. |
| 22 | PlantedUnitsName | Sometimes | Unit name, for example Trees or Vines. Required when PlantedUnitsValue is greater than 0. |

Time zone. If you leave TimeZone blank, Pago uses the time zone of the jurisdiction (a county's own time zone, or its state's). If the county or state spans more than one time zone, you must enter one. If no time zone can be found, Pago uses America/Los_Angeles.
Jurisdiction and state. For a county, Pago uses the State column to find the right county, so two counties with the same name in different states are not confused. Use the two-letter abbreviation in State.

FAQ
What happens to blank cells when I update a location? For Variety, the accounting codes, EntryNotes, Description, CustomerBillTo and the address fields, a blank cell keeps the current value. All other columns are replaced by what is in the file. That includes jurisdiction, commodity, acres, latitude, longitude, time zone, inactive status and the planted fields. Include the current values for those if you do not want them to change.
How are existing locations matched? By Location Name within the selected customer. Matching is not case-sensitive. Renaming a location in the file creates a new location.
Can I deactivate locations with an import? Yes. Set IsInactive to yes for those rows.
Do I need all 23 columns? No. If your file has a header row, include only the columns you need. The required columns must always be there.
