Overview
You can add or update jobs on a contract work type by uploading a CSV file. Each row is one job. If a job with the same JobName already exists on that work type, it is updated. If not, a new job is added.
The same file can also set the accounting code for each activity (Break, Lunch, Travel and so on) on the job.
The whole file is checked before anything is saved. If any row has an error, nothing is imported.
Before you start
- The customer contract and the work type must already exist. Jobs are imported into one work type at a time.
- If you use automatic activities plans, create the plans first.
- Save your file as CSV (comma delimited), encoded as UTF-8 or Unicode.
Preparing your file
Start your file with a header row. With a header row, columns can be in any order, and column names are not case-sensitive. If there is no header row, Pago reads the first six columns in the order below, and you cannot add activity columns.
Template: copy the header row below into a new file and save it as a .csv. It has the 6 job columns in the order shown in the table, followed by a column for each activity code. Add one row per job and delete any activity columns you don't need.

Job columns
| # | Column | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | JobName | Yes | Name of the job. Must be unique in the file. Used to match existing jobs. |
| 2 | CustomerAccountingCode | No | Customer's code for this job. |
| 3 | EmployerAccountingCode | No | Your code for this job. |
| 4 | WorkersCompClassCode | No | Workers' comp class code, for example 0035. |
| 5 | IsDefault | No | true or false. true makes this the default job for the work type. Blank means false. |
| 6 | AutomaticActivitiesPlanName | No | Name of an existing automatic activities plan to attach to the job. |
Activity columns (optional)
To set an activity's employer accounting code, add a column whose header is the activity code. Enter the accounting code in that column for each job. Leave a cell blank to skip that activity for that job.
| Activity | Code |
|---|---|
| Break | BRK |
| Lunch | LUN |
| First Aid | FIR |
| Training | TRN |
| School | SCH |
| Travel | TRV |
| Cooldown | COO |
| Waiting | WTG |
| Preparation | PRP |
| Health Check | HTC |
| Exercise | EXE |
| Hand Washing | HAN |
| Walking | WLK |
Every job always gets Break, Lunch and all the activities above. An activity with no column or a blank cell is added with no accounting code.

Import your jobs
- Go to Contracts and open the customer contract.
- Open the work type you want to add jobs to.
- Open the Jobs tab.
- Click the arrow next to Create Job and choose Import.
- In the Job Import CSV window, click Choose File and select your CSV.
- Click Import. A progress message shows while the file is checked and processed.
- When it finishes, fix any errors listed (see below), or click Close. The Jobs list refreshes.
Fixing errors
If there are errors, the window lists each problem row with its line number and the error message. Duplicate rows show in their own table.
| Message | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Job Name is required. | Enter a JobName on every row. |
| Duplicate record found: '…' appears multiple times in the file. | Each JobName can appear only once. Names are not case-sensitive. |
| Could not parse the request body… | The file is empty or not a valid CSV. Check it has at least one row and is saved as CSV. |
| Invalid contract or work type id in request route. | Close the window, reopen the work type from the Contracts page and try again. |
FAQ
How are existing jobs matched? By JobName within the selected work type. The match is exact, including capitals.
What happens to blank cells when I update a job? They clear the value. An update replaces the job's codes, default flag and activity codes with what is in the file. Include current values for anything you want to keep.
